안녕하세요? 

오늘은 제가 개인적으로 너무나도 좋아하는 레이첼 야마가타(Rachael Yamagata)에 관한 이야기를 포스팅하려 합니다. ^^

레이첼 야마가타(Rachael Yamagata)는 미국의 싱어송라이터이자 피아노 연주자로 1977년 재미교포 3세 일본인 아버지와 이탈리아계 독일인 어머니 사이에서 태어나지만 부모님이 일찍 이혼하는 바람에 유태인 양부모 아래에서 자랐다고 하네요.

이런 다양한 문화 경험은 오히려 그녀의 음악적 대중성에 긍정적 영향을 미쳤는데요,

"어려서부터 많은 문화를 접하고, 그것을 이해해왔기에 더욱 많은 대중들과의 감성적 소통을 잘 할수 있었던 것 같다"

그녀의 가장 큰 매력은 허스키하면서도 몽환적인 그리고 굉장히 감성을 흔드는 보이스 톤이 그 매력으로 꼽힙니다.

 

예전 제가 처음 그녀를 접하게 된 것은 '프라임 러브(Prime, 2005) 라는 영화 ost 가운데 'I Wish You Love' 리메이크 곡을 처음 듣고 완전히 반해버렸답니다. 

레이첼 야마가타(Rachael Yamagata)의 앨범별 대표곡은 아래와 같이 정리될 수 있어요. ^^

이 가운데 그녀의 가장 대표적인 곡 하나를 꼽으라고 한다면 개인적으로 "You Won't Let Me"를 꼽고 싶네요. 

일반적으로 대부분 "Be Be Your Love"를 좋아들 하시지만.. 

저는 "You Won't Let Me"에서 보다 파워풀한 그녀의 목소리가 더욱 돋보이는 것 같습니다.
